Road Rage incident involving a minor and shots fired ends in three arrested

PRESS RELEASE – On the evening of April 23, 2023, White County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an incident of road rage with gunshots fired on Hwy. 129 South, in the area of Cougar Drive.
The initial road rage incident began in Lumpkin County between a BMW vehicle operated by 25-year-old Jorden McKinney, of Gainesville, and a red Chevrolet truck operated by a 16-year-old juvenile.
This incident resulted in Jorden McKinney striking the back of the Chevrolet truck with the BMW.
Shortly after the collision, a white truck arrived on the scene, occupied by family members of the juvenile driver.
Those family members have been identified as Charles Wayne Ryder, 51, and Charles Dewey Lewis Ryder, 21, both from Lula. Charles Dewey Lewis Ryder fired several shots at the BMW, as Jorden McKinney drove past them. McKinney then made a U-turn in the BMW, driving back around and striking the white truck.
In turn, the white truck, operated by Charles Wayne Ryder, proceeded to ram the BMW, which disabled the vehicle.
Deputies arrested Jorden McKinney , Charles Wayne Ryder, and Charles Dewey Lewis Ryder at the scene and transported them to the White County jail.
Jorden McKinney is charged with Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a Felony, and Aggressive Driving. Charles Wayne Ryder is charged with Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a Felony, and Aggressive Driving.
Charles Dewey Lewis Ryder is charged with Reckless Conduct, Discharge of a firearm near a roadway, and Possession of Firearm during the commission of a Felony.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
