Gilmer County Gets Back to Work in Spring Scrimmage Game

Team FYN Sports, TeamFYNSports

The Gilmer County Bobcats had their spring scrimmage game on Wednesday as they look ahead to the 2023-2024 season. The Bobcats are in a tough region with the likes of the Dawson County Tigers who were the 7AAA regional champions last year as well as the resurgence of the Lumpkin County Indians who finished second in the region last year. Gilmer will look to get back into the playoffs this year under head coach Paul Standard who has set the bar high for his team this year.

When asked about his thoughts on the scrimmage, Coach Standard said “I thought we had a really good day…… Probably the biggest change is that we were able to go best versus best, and in our previous two years we had our best on one side and there wasn’t a whole lot that could really play against the best, that’s not the way it is anymore.”

The Bobcats scrimmaged against themselves, giving the younger guys a chance to get their footing and see what areas they need to address over the summer and into the fall. Overall, the Bobcats look good and will surely surpass their 5-5 record from last year.
