Two LCHS teachers lose their youngest daughter in tragic vehicle accident

LUMPKIN COUNTY, Ga. – Two Lumpkin County High School (LCHS) teachers have tragically lost their youngest daughter, three-year-old Rocky Rae Barron, in a singular vehicle accident that took place Thursday evening, July 13.

Jay Dee and Cadie Barron have served as teachers within the Lumpkin County School System for years and together they share three children.

Late Thursday evening the the accident occurred near a Copper Ridge subdivision driveway.

The vehicle left the roadway and traveled down a steep embankment where it overturned in the Chestatee River, according to the accident report.

The driver suffered minor injuries due to the accident.

The Georgia Sate Patrol is continuing to investigate the accident and they have stated that no foul play is suspected in this tragedy.

In a post from LCHS they stated they will ban together to support the Barrons in this difficult time.

“I am asking for our community to pray for this family today, tomorrow, in the coming weeks and months. I have been contacted about funeral arrangements and assistance paying for these expenses. If you would like to donate to this sweet family (JD and Cadie Barron) for funeral expenses for their youngest daughter, please send checks to Lumpkin County High School with their name in the memo and we will get them to where it needs to go once arrangements are made,” stated LCHS officials.
