Lumpkin Co. defeats Union Co. 3-0 at home

The Lumpkin Co. Indians (4-4) and the Union Co. Panthers (2-4) faced off on Tuesday night in Dahlonega. The Indians walked away with a 3-0 victory. Union Co. had five hits, including two from #1 John Mancuso, but couldn’t capitalize to score any runs.

Lumpkin Co. scored two runs in the fourth inning to break the 0-0 tie, as neither time scored in the first three innings. The first run came on an RBI single from #2 Brandon Alewine with the bases loaded, and the second came on a walk the following at-bat.

The next inning, #22 Harris Taylor for Lumpkin hit a double with runners on first and second base. He brought one runner home and allowed the other to advance to third base. The RBI allowed the Indians to take a 3-0 lead into the sixth inning.

Lumpkin Co. held on to that lead to win the game 3-0.

The Indians play again on Friday night at White Co. at 5:55 p.m.

The Panthers’ next games are on Saturday, as they host Banks Co. in a double header at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
