Jason “Biscuit” Holubitsky, age 40, of Cumming, Georgia passed away Sunday, March 10, 2019. Family will receive friends Thursday, March 14 from 6 to 9 PM and Friday, March 15 from 11 – 2 PM with a service following at 2PM in the Chapel of Dahlonega Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Dahlonega Memorial Park. Jason was a fanatic super sports fan. His favorite teams were the Georgia Bulldogs, the Atlanta Falcons, and the Atlanta Braves. Roy Joseph Polaske, age 71, of Dahlonega, Georgia passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019. Mr. Polaske loved football and poker, most especially Texas Hold’em. Nancy Green, age 91, of Murrayville, Georgia, formerly of Lawrenceville, Georgia, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019. She was a Registered Surgical nurse and a business women. Nancy was an amazing women, wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished life with curiosity, determination, and joy. She raised us all to believe in ourselves, to live life to the fullest, to love, to treat others well, and to live a health driven lifestyle. Carolyn Prickett Hill, 82, of Gainesville and formally of Dahlonega entered into eternal rest at her residence March 8, 2019. Carolyn was born April 25, 1936 in Harrison Arkansas, the daughter of the late Thomas Oscar Prickett (1896-1981) & Nannie Cady Varner Prickett (1894-1954). Or as she would say, “I was born in Arkansas to Georgia parents.”
Carolyn met the love of her life, Theron Haines Hill, while they were students at North Georgia College. Upon Haines’ graduatio…n from NGC, they were married June 10, 1956, and the couple began their life as a military family, traveling extensively across the United States, Europe and the Middle East. They had two children, Jeri and Keith.
The Hills returned to NGC in 1980 to finish his 28 years of active duty service in the US Army, as Professor of Military Science. The Hills were devout members of the Methodist Church and have always been active in the communities they lived in, including many philanthropic endeavors.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, and her step mother, Alice L Kilpatrick Baity Prickett (1906-1995)
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, two children, daughter, Jeri Lynn (Mike) McGhee, son, Keith Haines (Lisa) Hill, four grandchildren, Erin Lynn (Matt Durham) McGhee, Travis McGhee, Cassidy Diane (Steven) Kronenburg, Tyler Haines (Jessie) Hill, and five great-grandchildren; Bryce, Nolan, Evelynne, Kaden, Colton,
Carolyn will be greatly missed by her loving family and her many friends.
Arrangements are in the charge of McDonald Funeral Home of Dahlonega Georgia. A celebration of life will be 1pm Saturday March 16, 2019 at Dahlonega United Methodist Church, 107 S Park St., Dahlonega, GA 30533. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Interment will be at a later date with the immediate family.

Barbara (Joan) Mitts Chancey–our “Granny” and to her beloved friends, warmly “Barb” daughter of the late Lloyd and Olive (Johnson) Mitts of Pennsylvania was born in Connellsville, PA on September 23, 1942. She was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Suches, GA. She has lived in Suches, GA for the last 19 years and Jupiter, FL for 40+ years prior. Barb was a talented cosmetologist, serving clients/friends in Florida and Georgia for over 30 years. She touched many lives through her love of people and hairdressing. She was a graduate of the Legal Career Institute in West Palm Beach, FL and worked as a paralegal for nearly 10 years before her retirement. She was devoted to family, and played a very important role in raising all four of her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, shopping, travel, music, and time with family. She peacefully left this temporary home to join her Heavenly Father on March 5, 2019 following a swift and valiant battle with Leukemia.
Granny’s warmth, humor, kindness, tenderness, strength, loyalty, and fiery spirit will be fondly remembered by all blessed to know and love her. Her legacy of love and light will be carried on through her son Lawrence A. Chancey, Sr. of Suches, GA, her grandsons Christopher Chancey of Suches, GA, Lawrence A. Chancey, Jr. of Cleveland, GA, Matthew A. McCutcheon and wife Sarah McCutcheon of Cleveland, GA, her granddaughter Amanda L. Bales and husband Cory Bales of Yulee, FL and her 6 great grandchildren: Champ and Ansley McCutcheon, and Lindsay, Madison, Sam, & Lily Bales, as well as her siblings Ronald Mitts of PA, and Jeannie Woodfin of FL, and her nieces and nephews as well.
A viewing service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 4 p.m at Dahlonega Funeral Home 20 Gibson Rd. Dahlonega, GA 30533. William O. Hampel Jr. age 82 of Dahlonega passed away on March 6, 2019. Mr. Hampel was a longtime member of Maranatha Baptist Church and loved model trains and fishing.
Mr. Hampel is preceded in death by his first wife Edith Ray Hampel, second wife Brenda Holland Hampel; Survived by children, Bill Hampel, Carnesville, GA Paul (Tammy) Hampel, Dahlonega, GA; Alan (Lisa) Hampel, Dahlonega, GA; Michelle (James Tolbert) Hampel, Dahlonega, GA; Eric Hampel, Dahlonega, GA; Troy (Karen) Hampel, Gillsville, GA; and step son John C. Ragland Dahlonega, GA; grandchildren , Alan Russell, Gabriel Russell, Rachelle (Nathan) Cross, Randy (Nicole) Hampel, Jonathan Hampel, Megan (Corey) Caylor, Cody (Traci) Hampel, Tyler Hampel, and Jeffery Levi Kent; numerous great grandchildren and other relatives also survive.

William Hoard Hobbs age 54 of Dahlonega, Georgia passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019. Mr. Hobbs loved the owning and operating a photography business. One of his favorite places was Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve. Sara Beth Elrod Moore

Sara Beth Elrod Moore age 90 of Dahlonega passed away on March 1, 2019.
Sara Beth Elrod Moore was born in Commerce, GA October 21,1928. She became a resident of Dahlonega when she attended North Georgia College in 1944 and met; married her late husband John William (Billy) Moore in 1947, a marriage of 65 years.
She worked alongside her husband to develop Moore’s Cash & Carry which they owned and operated until his retirement in 1985. She was a member at Dahlonega United Methodist Church where she was involved with the choir for many years.
She was among those instrumental in developing Dahlonega’s first Gold Rush as well as involvement in other community affairs for many years.
She is survived by children, Mary Ellyn Moore, Jon (Sandy) Moore, Richey Moore all of Dahlonega, grandchildren Christopher (Brooke) Massey, Dahlonega, Patrick Massey, Dahlonega, Katie Moore, Lee Moore, Dahlonega, Nicole (Frank) Purdy, Dahlonega, Adam Sullens, Richland, WA, Zeak Black (Jordan) Duluth, Great grandchildren, Sara Beth Massey, Mallory Massey, Clara Purdy, Will Purdy, Livvie Dunlap, Laken Martin, all of Dahlonega, A.J. Sullens, Richland, WA, Zelda Black, Duluth. Brother in law, Henry (Corky) Moore, sisters in law and brothers in law Ann and Al Wimpy, Dahlonega, Frank and Nancy Moore, St. Simons Island, GA, Flo Moore, Dahlonega.
A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
