City Council will consider additional cost for Wimpy Mill Pedestran Bridge

DAHLONEGA Ga. – City Council will consider a Public Works request for $25,000 increase in the Wimpy Mill Pedestrian Bridge budget when it meets in a combined work session and called meeting Monday at 4 p.m. in the Gary McCullough Council Chamber in City Hall.

Public Works Director said the increase is needed to cover the cost of additional work not clearly indicated or quantified in design drawings. The increase would cover the cost of additional tasks and materials that have been (or will be) incurred are, including additional concrete in the ADA parking area, additional retaining walls near the bridge abutments to eliminate future erosion, additional curb and gutter near abutments and reconfiguration of guardrail ends at vehicular bridge approaches.

Troy Armstrong, the city’s Streets, Parks and Cemeteries Supervisor is requesting approval of the purchase of a Kubota KX040-4R3TP excavator with quick coupler and hydraulic thumb kit at a cost of $57,297.48. This is a budgeted item for 2021.

Other items to be considered by Council include:

  • Susie Dekrone Farris Memorial Swing & Plaque;
  • Ordinance 2020-34, Columbarium/Ossuarium Sales;
  • Dark Skies Ordinance 2020-31;
  • 2021 Agreement for Tourism Development Services;
  • Solid Waste Exemption Procedure Mark Buchanan, Public Works

There will also be a number of departmental reports by Financial Services, Community Development, Public Works and Water and Wastewater Treatment.
