Lady Indians soccer takes down East Hall

The Lumpkin Co. Lady Indians soccer team (3-3-1, 1-0 Region 7-3A) defeated the East Hall Lady Vikings (0-4-1, 0-1) on Tuesday night, March 3, in Dahlonega, to earn the first region win of the season. Sophomore Reagan Spivey scored two of the Lady Indians’ four first half goals, and East Hall couldn’t erase the deficit in the 10-0 loss.

Senior Hope Kenney scored the first goal of the game with 24 minutes remaining in the first half. Lumpkin Co. proceeded to score three more goals in the final 14 minutes of the half. The first came from junior Ashley Read, and the second came off a corner kick from Read that was scored on a header from Spivey. Spivey scored her second goal just a few minutes later as Lumpkin Co. led 4-0 at halftime.

Less than 10 minutes into the second half, freshman Nicole Limehouse punched in a quick goal. A few minutes later, Kenney scored her second goal of the game. Read followed that goal with her second goal of the game just a few minutes later. Kenney got the hat trick three minutes after that to push the Lady Indians’ lead to 8-0. Limehouse scored her second goal of the game with less than 10 minutes remaining. Kenney ended the game by scoring with a little more than a minute left, giving her a hat trick.
Lumpkin Co. plays again Friday, March 6, as they host the Cherokee Lady Warriors (4-1) at 5:30 p.m.
