Winter weather possible for Lumpkin County

Press Release
The Lumpkin County Government urges citizens to prepare for winter weather.
  1. Winter Weather Event – Be Prepared!
According to the latest National Weather Service predictions, Lumpkin County can expect a coating of ice and around 3” – 6” inches of snow, depending on your location and elevation, between 7pm Saturday night and 1am Monday morning (forecast is subject to change). An added twist is that wind gusts of between 20 – 40mph are possible, which means power outages are likely. Plan ahead and prepare! If you or a family member uses medical equipment and you don’t have a generator, consider your alternatives. Also, what other heat sources do you have? Are these heat sources safe for your family to be around? http://Ready.gov recommends you have at least a three-day supply of water and food per person. Avoid traveling unless absolutely necessary – keep your well-prepared self at home and have fun!
