Clarkesville Man Arrested on Child Exploitation Charges Following GBI Investigation

DAHLONEGA, Ga. — A Habersham County man has been arrested and charged with sexual exploitation of children after a Georgia Bureau of Investigation probe into his online activity.

Officials said 36-year-old Alex Michael Miller of Clarkesville was taken into custody in Lumpkin County following a joint investigation between the GBI’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes (CEACC) Unit and the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office.

The case began in June 2024, when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) sent the GBI a CyberTipline report indicating possible possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material linked to Miller. Investigators said their review of the report led to his arrest on Aug. 28.

Miller was booked into the Lumpkin County Jail.

The GBI said the investigation is part of the ongoing Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force effort, which targets individuals involved in trading child sexual abuse material. The ICAC Program, created by the U.S. Department of Justice, was established in response to the growing risks posed to children and teens online.
