PRESS RELEASE-
Upcoming Project at Yahoola Creek Park
With permission from the Lumpkin County Board of Commissioners, the Lumpkin County Water & Sewerage Authority (LCWSA) is moving forward with plans for a stream restoration project at Yahoola Creek Park.
This project will:
✅ Stabilize eroding streambanks
✅ Make the park safer and more enjoyable for visitors
✅ Improve water quality by reducing sediment and nutrients entering the creek
✅ Provide water quality credits for the new Cane Branch Water Pollution Control Plant
Construction is expected to begin in late 2026.
Yahoola Creek Park, near Dahlonega, is already a favorite spot with walking trails, sports fields, disc golf, and summertime creek fun—this project will help preserve and enhance it for years to come.
